The Aerotrain
.
The Aérotrain was a Hovertrain developed in France from 1965 to 1977. The lead engineer was Jean Bertin. The goal of the Aérotrain was similar to that of the magnetic levitation train: to suspend the train above the tracks so the only resistance is that of air resistance. Consequently, the Aérotrain could travel at very high speeds without the technical complexity and expensive tracks of magnetic levitation.

Tracks and Horizons
.
From 1964 to 1966, Carlos Caggiani travelled to 26 countries on a 1947 Indian Chief motorcycle with hardly a penny to his name. At 24 years of age, he embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. He spent time with everyone from poor natives in the Andes mountains, to rich families in the United States. He crossed rivers without bridges, suffered famine, intense heat and cold, guided his motorcycle through rain and snow storms, rode on dirt and cobblestone roads, was chased by the FBI, was shot at in Bolivia during a revolutionary war, and had a serious accident due to a mechanical failure in Panama that left him hospitalized for 17 days. The experiences in this book demonstrate a human being's tenacity and triumph in the face of adversity, and shows that anything is possible. There is always something more just beyond the horizon...and as the horizon expands, our limits disappear. The Book, thanks to Bill Uglicoyote Davis

Air Drive by Renaud Marion
.
Τhe hovering car without wheels, also called the hovercar, is a constant fixture in science fiction films, video games and comic books, and a long-standing dream for car lovers and technology fans alike. This dream is also shared by French photographer Renaud Marion, who creates images depicting hovering cars in everyday urban settings. In his ongoing photographic project titled ‘‘Air Drive’’, Marion combines retro car designs with futuristic technology, a project driven by his childhood visions of how the world was going to look like in the future. The Grande Hotel Beira, Mozambique
.
The Grande Hotel Beira was a luxurious hotel in Beira, Mozambique, serving as such from 1954 to 1963, after which it was used as military base in the Mozambican Civil War. It has since fallen into disuse, and is currently home to 3500 squatters, who have stripped the building of construction materials to provide a limited source of income. The exterior of the Grande Hotel was inspired by the Art Deco movement, which became the principal architectural style in Portugal during the 1930s and 1940s during the Estado Novo era.

Mack Fire Truck

Time hasn't been especially kind to this truck. It's got quite a bit of surface rust, the paint that's there is faded, the chrome is completely tarnished, and the windows are either rolled down or broken. The interior is trashed too, as are some of the gauges. Despite this, it still seems pretty solid and restorable, a testament to Mack's quality.

1946 500 Gambalunga
.
All pictures © Phil Aynsley Photography
The Gambalunga (Long legs) was developed from the Dondolino in 1946 primarily as a 500cc racer for privateers. The engine was the first Guzzi to use long stroke, rather than oversquare, bore/stroke dimensions (84x90mm) and produced 36hp at 5,600rpm on 72 octane petrol. Also new was the adoption of a leading link front suspension and the first steps towards aerodynamics with the rear guard design. The Gambalunga was built up until 1951. This bike is one of the 12 works bikes built and has engine number 1! The carburettor on this '70s restoration has a red painted finish instead of the original anodised finish. Photographed in Northern Italy. 2013.

Brigitte's Rolls Royce

Brigitte Bardot acquired the car, which features H.J. Mulliner coachwork, in 1970 while living in Paris. Introduced in 1955 as a replacement for the Silver Dawn, the Silver Cloud became one of the legendary marque’s most iconic models. As it happens, Bardot wasn’t the only well-known owner of the car; over the years it also belonged to French singer Charles Aznavour and shoe designer Charles Jourdan. Source

A 1982 Suzuki GS1100 named Fenix
.
Hi! Here are the photos of my new bike. A 1982 Suzuki GS1100 that I named Fenix. This Suzuki was the dream of Celso Almeida, from Coimbra, since he was a child. His neighbour, who was an immigrant in Andora was the owner of the bike, and when he came to Portugal in the summer, he dreamed that one day that bike will be his! He got to bought it, but it was completly wrecked. It was kept outdoors for a long, long time. It was missing several parts and the wiring was a complete nightmare. When Sérgio Teixeira (Suzuki Saudade) saw the bike, his first reaction was that will be an impossible task! But, he had at least to try. So, here in Luis Alves Motos, in Santo Tirso, we get our hands dirty...and Fenix return from ashes! The tank is from a 1980 Suzuki GSX 1100, the instruments are a Motogadget motoscope classic Tach, and we used the m-switch as well, stainless steel tubing brakes, clip on´s, new levers, Metzeler Lasertec tires, Koni shocks, LED tailight. And now, Fenix is ready to take on the roads once again...and I wish it was mine!
Cheers Sérgio Teixeira
