The White's Boots tradition has its roots in the logging country of west Virginia back before the Civil War. It was there that Otto White's father & grandfather made calked boots for the logging industry. In 1902, the tradition was carried west when Otto and his father moved to St. Maries, Idaho. Then in 1915 they moved to Spokane, Washington where, under Otto's guidance, the business flourished. Otto White's desire was a simple one : Make the finest work boots in the world! This single-minded ambition drove Otto to excell at his craft. His insistence on quality infected the workers of his growing business too, and the White's reputation grew with every pair of boots that came out of the shop.

1980: Start of the Arai 500 race.

1980: Andrew Johnson/Yamaha TZ750.

1981: Production racing has always been important in Australia. Here Lee Roebuck (on the first race for the Ducati Pantah in Oz) chases Jennifer Coates.

 1982: Graeme Geddes/Armstrong 250 (4).

My friend Phil Aynsley sent me these amazing pictures he took during races on the Bathurst Circuit in New South Wales, Australia. Mount Panorama, Motor Racing Circuit Bathurst (or often simply Bathurst)is the home of the Bathurst 12 Hour motor race, held each February, and the Bathurst 1000 motor race, held each October. The track is 6.213 km (4 mi) long, and is technically a street circuit, as the circuit is a public road when no racing events are being run, and there are many residences which can only be accessed from the circuit.

Narrated by Dustin Hoffman,VISUAL ACOUSTICS celebrates the life and career of Julius Shulman, the world’s greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream. Shulman, who passed away this year, captured the work of nearly every modern and progressive architect since the 1930s including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank Gehry. Julius Shulman declared, “Good design is seldom accepted. It has to be sold.” He was referring to his own role in staging architectural photography, but as this section demonstrates, the statement could be equally applied to exhibitions, stores, advertising, publications, and film, which were the principal agents in disseminating modern California design. Jules Heumann was just 28 years old in 1952 when he started his project based on a 1952 Singer 4AD Roadster. He wanted a sports car but there was little choice in his price range (and few sports cars to choose from) so he did what a special few enterprising young men did back then – he built it from scratch. Jules Heumann—“J.” to his many friends throughout the automotive world—has been a guiding light to the Pebble Beach Concours for four over decades. Seiko Diving Watch

© the Motart Journal Seiko SKX173 automatic diver watch

It all started the year after the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, when a wave of pride swept through Japan, and the country felt it had re-entered the world stage following its defeat in the Second World War. In 1965, Seiko made its first diver's watch, the 150 meter (m) automatic (62MAS-010). It retailed for 13,000 yen. Designers at Seiko felt that making a first-class diver's watch was important for their company, because a diver's watch is 'the ultimate test' of watch-making skills. After all, a diver's watch must be waterproof, shockproof, and highly luminous.  NATO Leather strap by L'Atelier du bracelet Parisien. Text via : www.watchuseek.com
