This very rare Facel Vega Excellence "First serie" is made even more attractive by its association with the star Ava Gardner, its first owner, who took delivery directly to the factory. Last ten produced, it was delivered in September 1958, when Ava Gardner was about to shoot the film On the Beach with Gregory Peck. She had signed a contract with MGM in 1941 and was included in many top notch films from the 1950s to the 1970s, including Mogambo (1953), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award as best actress. Owned by Ava Gardner is confirmed by the record of the chassis and a photograph of her with the car also appears in the historical record.
