The Gambalunga (Long legs) was developed from the Dondolino in 1946 primarily as a 500cc racer for privateers. The engine was the first Guzzi to use long stroke, rather than oversquare, bore/stroke dimensions (84x90mm) and produced 36hp at 5,600rpm on 72 octane petrol. Also new was the adoption of a leading link front suspension and the first steps towards aerodynamics with the rear guard design. The Gambalunga was built up until 1951. This bike is one of the 12 works bikes built and has engine number 1! The carburettor on this '70s restoration has a red painted finish instead of the original anodised finish. Photographed in Northern Italy. 2013.
